Snap Fitness Bush Inn, located at 334 Riccarton Road, Christchurch, has been a fixture in the Upper Riccarton community since it first opened in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquakes in 2011. In November 2022, the current owners took over the gym, facing challenges such as the impact of COVID restrictions and an aging facility. However, they had a clear vision of how to revitalise the club and is now a stand out club in the CARTEL Media Fitness Network.

In July 2023, Snap Fitness Bush Inn completed a significant refurbishment, moving to its new, larger 450-square-meter location. The six-week renovation involved knocking down walls, laying 300 heavy rubber tiles, and introducing a fresh paint scheme. The owners personally removed the old gym tiles and were hands-on in the remodelling process. The bathrooms were completely overhauled, providing a luxurious new standard for members.

The gym’s equipment also received a complete upgrade, replacing the old machines with brand-new Matrix gear. The new lineup includes pin-loaded machines like the prone hamstring curl, leg extension, lat pulldown, shoulder press, leg press, Smith machine, and glute drive. The cardio suite was revamped with modern, touchscreen technology, replacing outdated treadmills and giving the gym a fresh, cutting-edge feel.

One of the standout features of Snap Fitness Bush Inn is its expanded functional fitness area, which now includes Olympic lifting bars, bumper plates, and platforms. This area reflects the owner’s personal interest in functional training and Olympic lifting, giving the gym a unique flavour. It’s not just for serious lifters—this versatile space also caters to group exercise classes and other fitness programs. Importantly, Snap Fitness Bush Inn allows members to drop weights in a controlled environment, a feature not always found in typical gyms.
